Steven Iwamura
Mr. Iwamura manages the Banking and Financial Services Department possessing a wealth of experience in foreclosing on mortgages in accordance with servicing and investor guidelines. He counsels the mortgage banking industry on residential, construction and commercial mortgage loans including issues related to foreclosures, bankruptcies, regulatory compliance, workouts, and lender liability. Mr. Iwamura’s litigation expertise includes the defense of claims for Predatory Lending, Unfair and Deceptive Acts and Practices, violations of Service members Civil Relief Act, Truth in Lending Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Mr. Iwamura and the firm are Fannie Mae Designated counsel for the state of Hawaii and litigation counsel for JP Morgan Chase & Co., Fannie Mae, Wells Fargo Bank, N.A,. and American Savings Bank.
Mr. Iwamura is a frequent speaker on mortgage banking issues for various services, banks and legal groups. Prior to joining the firm, he was engaged in an insurance defense practice in Honolulu from 1990-1992, and in San Diego, California from 1987-1990. He is also a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, Mortgage Bankers Association, USFN and AFN.
